Ring in the New Year with these Fun Things to Do:
I actually won't be in Houston for New Year's Eve this year but if I was...Glowarama is where I'd be! It takes place downtown at Discovery Green/George R. Brown and includes an illuminated art car parade, start of the art 3D light show and fireworks, roaming family entertainment, skating at the outdoor ice rink at Discovery Green and much more! Festivities start at 7 pm, are free to the public, and will be broadlive from Channel 13. The afterparty "Afterglow" will take place 10 pm - 2 am in the George R. Brown. // If you are looking for a more intimate evening, ring in the New Year at the swank bar 13 Celsius. They promise an evening of simplicity, elegance and champagne. A spot on the sofa for groups up to 6 is $300 and includes a magnum of bubbly and a small menu of pairings for your group. You can just sit at the bar for only $13 per person. // Celebrate the New Year in style with a champagne tour aboard Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s pontoon boat. Enjoy the downtown night views with sparkling skyline lights on this two hour excursion down Houston's oldest waterway. Tickets are $50 per person (reservations required) and there is limited seating so call 713.752.0314 ext. 4 to make your reservations. // Hilton Americas-Houston brings in the New Year at Studio 55. DJ Damon spins the hits of the '70s, headliners Mary Griffin and Todd Honeycutt perform, along with the Ernest Walker Band. Packages start at $109 per couple. // An alternative to the Hilton Americas party is the annual Hyatt Regency New Year's Eve Party, with four dance floors, two live bands, a DJ, party favors and a 50,000-balloon cascade at midnight. Each general admission ticket includes four drink tickets, party favors and access to live entertainment. Packages start at $319 per couple. // If you live in Katy and don't want to drive all the way Downtown, then the CityCentre celebration at Hotel Sorella might be a good choice. They have three different packages priced from $249 per couple. // Ring in 2011 with the melodious music of the Houston Symphony at the Centrum. Conductor Brett Mitchell will lead the concert, with a range of audience favorites, including selections from West Side Story and The Marriage of Figaro. // Sip a seasoned cocktail or choose from the new "Bubbles and Bourbon" menu at Anvil Bar & Refuge's New Year's Eve party. Evening includes jazz music, party hats and noisemakers, a midnight balloon drop, and a champagne or bourbon midnight toast. No reservations required. // Enjoy dinner and dancing under the stars as you cruise Clear Lake and Galveston Bay on a New Year's Eve Party Cruise! Packages start at $104 per person and include open beer, wine and champagne bar, cash bar for cocktails, DJ and dancing, and gourmet hors d'oeuvres buffet. // Please email me if you need more information on any of these events. **HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!**
