Tropical Storm Bill ~ High Water Warnings!

Tropical Storm Bill ~ High Water Warnings! The entire Houston area is under flood warnings right now as tropical storm Bill is now upon us.  The news outlets have been warning us since yesterday of the potential flooding issues and we are now seeing this come to pass.  Those of us up here in Montgomery County are now experiencing the some of the first heavy outer bands of the storm which are producing huge amounts of rain very quickly. Our already saturated area from the 20 inches of rain we received last month is making for some extremely dangerous flooding situations.  All low, lying areas, roads and access roads that typically flood need to be avoided at all costs.  Do NOT drive into these low lying areas as the high water can be deceiving. If you find your car in high water, roll the windows down immediately before the electrical system is affected.  Unstrap children from their car seats and help them out of the windows first.  The most important thing is getting those windows down.  We saw many people succumb to the flood waters last month because they did not get their windows down in time. Bottom line is stay in if you can, be vigilant regarding low water areas and just use good judgment!  Be careful and do not take unnecessary risks.  When folks get into trouble, this then puts any emergency personnel also in harms way.  We are expecting rain the rest of today and much of tomorrow so be prepared to stay put!  Be safe everyone and hopefully Bill will move on his way soon.  Take care and stay dry!        "Have you fully lived today?"
