Texas Flooding ~ What to do About Erosion!

Texas Flooding ~ What to do About Erosion! The Texas Floods of May 2015 have wreaked havoc on our homes, our roads and our property.  Not only do the homes and roadways take a hit, many property owners are faced with serious problems of erosion. This is a very problematic situation and should be evaluated and remediated as quickly as you can. In my own yard we are facing this issue.  At the back of our property is a huge drop-off down to a ravine. We have taken many preventive measures prior to this incredible rainfall to have under grown pipes and drains to take the water out to the ravine.  Before this historic flooding situation, these remedies have been working beautifully. Because we received so much rain so very fast and hard, this drainage system couldn't keep up and therefore resulted in the terrible erosion that basically looks like a sinkhole.  If left unattended it will undoubtedly become worse and could affect the home. If your property has experienced erosion, get someone out to evaluate it now!  Don't wait!  Take pictures and stake out where the erosion ends in case of more rain before you can get it repaired.  This will help you know the rate of erosion somewhat. The large trees around our two eroding areas may be damaged beyond repair.  So sad to see beautiful trees affected.  More importantly, we certainly don't want to have this erosion getting anywhere near our pool or slab. Take a look at your property and have eroding areas assessed promptly.  Erosion issues should be taken very seriously.  Let's pray for this rain to stop for awhile!  We need a break!      "Have you fully lived today?"
