It Takes TIME to Become Experienced!

It Takes TIME to Become Experienced!A wonderful featured post today inspired me to write this one.  Anna Banana wrote about Newbie Agents giving the industry a bad name.  Her well-worded point is that those who practice anything in bravado style, especially if they are new to the industry are shooting themselves in the foot. Any industry including real estate takes time.  You don't get "good" overnight at anything!  Pretending to be a "pro" will surely get you in trouble.  In the real estate industry, this type of attitude can also get you sued. T=Tenacity      Real estate is not for the faint at heart.  Many on the outside believe our industry to be easy.  You love looking at homes?  Become and agent and just open the doors for people, write up those contracts and voila - get paid!  Not so fast there!  Those of us who have been around the block know better.  This business is difficult, strategic and arduous.  Rewarding but none-the-less, plain old hard work!I=Immersion     In order to become good at any skill, you must immerse yourself into it completely.  Learn everything that you can.  Have a mentor or a coach.  Take as many classes as you can.  Watch the pros around you.M=Master     To master any technique or skill is to reach a level of competency after many prior experiences.  Mastery is a continuous element that one must consistently strive for.  A true master never recognizes that they are there as they continually strive for the next level.E=Experience     Finally, nothing, nothing, nothing can replace good old experience.  Getting down in the trenches and getting your hands dirty is the ONLY way to truly learn a skill.  Doing something can never replace learning something online or through a book.   Time invested in anything you wish to be better at is indeed your best friend.  We can never get back the time that has passed but we can certainly be intentional about the time we have right now.  Value your time and respect those who have already invested the time and are constantly striving to master their skills! "Have you fully LIVED today?" Thank you Anna for the inspiration!        "Have you fully lived today?"
