The Woodlands population rose by 68.6 percent from 55,649 to 93,847 from the 2000 Cenus to the 2010 Census. This increase is well within the planned full-development population of 120,000 to 130,000. This community growth is larger than the 55.1 percent growth in Montgomery County and the 7.5 percent growth in Houston.
This community growth can be attributed to the quality of lifestyle that includes safety, schools, plus more parks per capita population than any community in the state of Texas. The 25% green rule maintaining the balance of nature and development in the community is another factor in population growth.
The Woodlands Hispanic population nearly tripled from 3,697 to 11,497; 6.6 percent to 12.3 percent of the community population. This growth is due to safety, quality of life, and investment opportunities. Foreign investors can gain citizenship in the community by investing in the area.
