Arts in the Park, offered by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department, brings local visual artists and their creations to residents. In addition, local performing artists will provide a variety of musical entertainment. Arts in the Park will be held at Rob Fleming Park in the Village of Creekside Park on Saturday, May 14, 2011, from 3 to 9 p.m.
“The new six-hour format gives everyone an opportunity to stay as long as they like,” said Township Parks and Recreation Director Chris Nunes. “Attendees can enjoy the variety of art and music all afternoon and evening.”
Art for sale includes acrylics, beaded jewelry, pottery, fused glass, photography, sculpture, printmaking, handmade chainmaille, clothing, baby clothing, and bags, totes and accessories, all created by local artists.
Live musical entertainment begins at 3 p.m. and continues throughout the entire event. Performers include Mariachi Imperial, Baylee Rubich, Kathryn Hallberg, Anjali Dancers, Alyssa Rubich, The Lonely Scones, Rachael Farnan and Moodafaruka.
Children ages 12 and under will enjoy Kidzone, helping create a masterpiece on the Monster Mural, painting a birdhouse (while supplies last) and playing in the moonwalk!
The event is free for the entire family, and concessions will be available. For more information on the Arts in the Park program, please contact Pamela Woods at 281.210.3900 or visit www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov, click Recreation, then Programs and Events, then Arts in the Park.
