A new mobile application is available for consumers in the Houston area. Houston Homes for Sale will make homes marketed in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) accessible on the go.

Houston Homes for Sale can be used on more than100 different smartphone models, and it will serve as a powerful tool for those searching for homes for sale in Houston. The technology is the first of its kind in the Houston area.

The application allows consumers to search for properties directly from their smartphones using GPS technology where available or by entering in any city, address or zip code in the Greater Houston area.

The tool offers instant access to all available information about a property, including photos, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, price, square footage, estimated mortgage, taxes and other property details.

Marilyn Eiland and Mark Woodroof, partners with Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors, say that Houston Homes for Sale will change the way consumers shop for homes in Houston.

“Consumers can search for homes on their own, or agents can use the app to find houses while giving clients tours,” said Woodroof. “As consumers become more reliant on smartphones and tablets for information, it is no longer necessary to be tethered to a computer to access property information.”

Eiland said clients will be able to search for specific features they want or zip codes they want to explore. “Houston Homes for Sale is an amazing tool that mobilizes the MLS right in the hand of the consumer.”

How to get the Houston Homes for Sale app:

At this writing, the app has been submitted to all smartphone markets. It is currently available in the Android Market and the Apple App Store (iPhone, iPod and iPad). Search in your phone market for “Houston Homes for Sale”. Blackberry, Palm and Windows Live are “in progress” and can be downloaded by searching “Houston Homes for Sale”. Once the app goes live on all smartphone stores, it will also be available by texting “HHS” to 87778.

Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors sponsored the app’s development in Houston. Once “Houston Homes for Sale” is available in all smartphone stores, consumers will be able to visit www.GaryGreene.com to download the free app and immediately start searching property listings from their smartphone.
