Everyone loves happy hour and many Woodlands restaurants have some great deals if you have the time to take advantage of them. Whether it is lunch, weekend brunch, happy hour, or dinner, Fieldings Wood Grill at 1699 Research Forest is one of my favorite locally owned restaurants. Their happy hour has select $3 beers, select $4 glasses of wine, 50% off specialty cocktails, and an assortment of $4 starters (Happy Hour prices at the bar only). The cocktail menu is interesting and solid; the fourteen or so craft beers on tap offer a great variety and change often. They even have adult milkshakes! The sirracha hummus served with plantain chips is my favorite of the starters. I enjoy sitting in the bar area where it feels like an adult space. If you have little ones, they will love the iPad bar where they can play while adults can keep an eye on them.
Fieldings has it all, and most everything is freshly made. They have my favorite burgers in The Woodlands. The 44 Farms all natural Texas beef is ground daily, served on fresh made buns and cooked over pecan and oak wood. They have a burger for everyone whether you like a basic one or one with exotic ingredients. The Texas blues burger with Point Reyes blue cheese and jalapeños is a favorite of mine. They make their own bacon, so make sure you add that to any burger to make it stand out.
Other favorites include the tender and juicy half chicken and the kale and blueberry salad. Fieldings makes their own salad dressings. The kale blueberry salad features kale, cauliflower, blueberries, warm goat cheese and a sundried tomato dressing — veggie heaven. Don’t overlook the arepas either. If you aren’t familiar with this Venezuelan sandwich, order one to share as an appetizer and expand your gastronomic horizon.
Brunch is a busy and popular time on weekends at Fielding’s. They have a great menu offering fresh homemade cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, and other breakfast delights. Their homemade gelato is used in the french toast for a rich wonderful flavor. Once you’ve had their Bloody Mary flight, it will be your favorite way to celebrate the weekend.
