Here is an article from today’s WSJ about mortgage rates edging up as of Thursday. Is this the beginning of a trend or just a bump? Buyers needing to lock their rate, how does this affect them?
Mortgage Rates Head Upward, for a Change
For the first time in five weeks, interest rates on 30-year fixed-rate home mortgages rose, according to Freddie Mac's weekly survey of conforming mortgage rates, released on Thursday.
Rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 4.21% for the week ended Oct. 21, up from 4.19% last week, according to the survey. The mortgage averaged 5% at this time last year.
Average rates on 15-year fixed-rate mortgages also rose this week, averaging 3.64%, up from 3.62% last week. The mortgage averaged 4.43% a year ago.
