S&P: Fannie and Freddie Downgraded

Well, I guess we should have seen this coming. Standard and Poor's downgraded the debt of mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. "The downgrades of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reflect their direct reliance on the U.S. government," S&P said in a statement.
Will this have an effect on mortgage rates? Not necessarily say some. Here is some additional information on this subject from the Wall Street Journal.
