I posted yesterday that a Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites are coming to Cypress, TX in the Coles Crossing subdivision.
There were some concerns on the Coles Crossing message board that these hotels may not be a good thing for the area. Everybody has heard of and most likely stayed at a Holiday Inn in their lifetime. While Holiday Inns are no Caesar’s Palace, I have never heard of one being a detriment to a neighborhood.
On the other hand, I have never heard of Staybridge Suites before so I did a bit of research.
Staybridge and Holiday Inn are both owned by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). According to the Staybridge Suites Wikipedia article, there are almost 200 Staybridge Suites in the U.S and they are considered an “upscale hotel brand”. More impressively, Staybridge won a few awards in 2009 including the highest ranked extended-stay hotel according to the J.D. Power and Associates.
In August 2009, Staybridge Suites was ranked highest in the extended-stay segment according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Hotel Guest Satisfaction Study.[4] In July 2009, Staybridge Suites was named Best in Customer Satisfaction by Market Metrix, LLC for superiority in customer satisfaction among all upscale hotel brands during the first quarter of 2009.[5]
The average Staybridge Suites user reviews on TripAdviser are generally positive, too.
Based on this information, I think these will both be good additions to the area. We definitely could use some hotel options.
