I was out getting do-nuts with the family this morning when I see a neighbor from Coles Crossing. He asked if we had heard anything about the crash on Monteigne. Since Monteigne is literally a block away from my house and I did not hear any ruckus, I assumed that he was misinformed. We even drove down Monteigne on the way home to make sure everything was okay, which it was.
I later come to find out that a plane coming from College Station trying to land at Weiser Air Park in Cypress did crash into a person’s back yard this morning at 8:30. The house was off Montaigne but not the one in Coles Crossing. This was is spelled with an “a” instead of an “e” and literally backs up with Weiser’s runway. Talk about a poor location for home value!
The cause of the crash was apparently due to pilot error. He landed too far down the runway so he decided to pull back up to take another crack at it. As he was going back up, one of his wheels clipped a fence surrounding the airport causing him to crash.
The good news is that the pilot was the only passenger in the aircraft and he walked away with only minor injuries and nobody on the ground was harmed.
