Sad morning for a lot of Houstonians this morning. The 1-3 inches of snow we were projected to get never materialized. A warm layer of air formed in the upper atmosphere causing all of the precipitation to come down as freezing rain instead.
On the other hand, the Dallas / Ft. Worth area, which I do not believe was supposed to get any snow out of this system, got 6″ of snow in some areas.
The bad news in Houston, in addition to no snow for the kiddos to play in, is all of the ice that fell. Below is a snapshot of the area traffic maps from Houston Transtar from this morning at 7:00. The red exclamation marks indicate either ice or accidents. There are currently 8 accidents and 43 icy road locations.
