Sysco Business Services has officially begun the process of moving into their new offices at 24500 Highway 290 in Cypress, TX. This building was last used as office space and some distribution services for Compaq and HP back in the early to mid 2000s.

This is obviously great news for Cypress, TX as it brings a major employer to the area. It is also nice not to have an huge, empty distribution center / office complex vacant anymore.

The total building size is about 669,000 square feet and sits on 105 acres of property between Barker Cypress and Skinner right next to the master-planned community of Coles Crossing. It kind of has the feel of an airport terminal with the big “spine” going down the middle and with large offices outshoots going in either direction. It is about 0.25 mile to walk from one end of the spine to the other.

It is bordered by Cypress Creek and therefore the parking lot is prone to flooding during the occasional hard flooding storms that we see here in southeast Texas.

I personally worked in this office in 2001 – 2002 when I was a web development lead with Compaq and very happy to see the building being used again.
