As I blogged about back in January, Cypress To Get Traffic Help with Hwy 290 HOV Expansion, TxDOT and METRO joined forces to add HOV / Diamond Lanes on Highway 290 from Eldridge out to the Cypress Park & Ride at Skinner.  The good news is that project appears to be complete just in time for back to school!

I say “appears to be complete” because I cannot find a formal press release about the diamond lanes grand opening anywhere online, but the new lanes are definitely there as can be seen in the pictures on this post.

METRO projected that carpoolers would see as much as 20 minutes cut from their commute times during rush hour traffic.  Has anybody used the new diamond lanes yet?  Are they helping with your commute time?
