Each year, thousands of visitors and school children come to the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education and Recreation Center in Baytown to learn about the importance of wetlands and their inhabitants. This innovative facility, located on the banks of Goose Creek, opened in January of 1998. It is an official site on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.

The Wetlands Center features a variety of exhibits. Gator World, with its juvenile alligators and large wetlands mural, is always a favorite with visitors young and old. Wetlands Center staff provide tours as time permits, or visitors can take a self-guided tour.
Through education and recreation, the Wetlands Center aims to increase awareness, appreciation and understanding of wetlands, the environment and cultural history.
