Description:  This project is part of the sewer and water improvements bond that citizens approved in 2006.  In 2009, the Mont Belvieu City Council awarded the contract to construct a deep gravity feed trunk sewer line along Eagle Drive from Cherry Point south to the City's waste water treatment facilities on Perry Road.  The trunk line is sized to serve the projected ultimate development of homes and businesses on the east side of the City, as well as the existing homes and businesses.  The line is 20-25 feet deep in some places and is up to 42 inches in diameter to handle large future volumes of wastewater.  This project will eliminate the need for seven existing lift stations, and minimize the need for future lift stations.  To minimize disruption to traffic, the line under Eagle Drive south of FM 565 will be constructed using tunneling technology.  The project will combine Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the original plan and save $3 million from original estimates.

Two crews will work 24/7 on this project and an additional crew will be working on the main liftstation at the wastewater treatment plant.

Update: 3/3/2011

The project is over 50% complete and progressing nicely.  The project is expected to be completed as scheduled.

Cost:  $11,000,000

Start Date:  March 2010
End Date:  June 2011
