Go ahead. Ask anyone why they love Galveston Island and they will be hard pressed to give you just one answer. There are just too many choices.

For instance, Galveston is the home of many Texas’ firsts. Did you know Galveston was the first city in Texas to have a post office, a law firm, a private bank, and an opera house? It was also the first Texas city to have a telephone, electric lights, and a railroad locomotive.

Over the next few months, we will ask our followers, Islanders, visitors and tourists why they are so fond of Galveston and we will post these answers in a weekly blog called, “I Love the Island”.
