Most Americans are familiar with famous boardwalks such as Coney Island in New York, Atlantic City in New Jersey (the oldest in the US) and some of the other sixty or so boardwalks dotting cities around this country, but our own Kemah Boardwalk has rapidly gained attention since its opening in 1996. The 60 acre park, known for the Boardwalk Bullet rollercoaster, its annual crawfish festival and many other events along with a host of eateries was recently ranked as one of the top 7 boardwalks in the country by Food and Wine magazine, which of course touted boardwalks that had unique foods.
One other nice thing about Kemah’s boardwalk, which straddles Clear Lake and Galveston Bay, is the pleasant weather that continues throughout the year after the summer season, making it a great year-round destination.
