Galveston has always been known for its artists and two new exhibits have opened that are worth checking out.
The Galveston Arts Center presents Robert Pruitt: Recent Drawings. His works encompass SciFi, contemporary African-American identity, and traditional African imagery. Hurry, because these works are on display through September 30.
Also, the newly renovated Galveston Artists Residency presents Mapping Galveston featuring Houston and Galveston artists who have created their own personal maps of Galveston. These works are displayed alongside a collection of scientific and historical maps. This exhibit closes November 3.
The Galveston Arts Center is located at 2501 Market Street and the Galveston Artists Residency is located a few blocks away at 2521 Ships Mechanic Row.
