Some of the best festivals on Galveston Island occur in the fall and the weekend of September 21-23 is no exception.
The first major event of the autumn season is the Galveston Island Shrimp Festival. Presented by Yaga’s Entertainment, the Shrimp Gumbo Cook-off is set for Saturday, September 22 in downtown Galveston. The Shrimp Scamper 5K Fun Run takes place on the same day and begins at Float Pool & Patio Bar at 9 a.m. The run is open to skateboards, roller skates, strollers and bikes and features prizes for the wildest costumes. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Cavalla Historical Foundation.
Additional information for both of these events can be found at YagasPresents.com.
