Do you have unused (or expired) prescription or over-the-counter medicine still in your cabinet? Saturday, September 29th, is the date you can safely get rid of those meds and all you need to do is participate in “Medication Take Back”.
The “Take Back” event is sponsored by the Bay Area Alliance for Youth and Families Prescription Drug Advisory Committee. Bring your medications in their original container, if possible, to the UTMB Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes, located 2240 Gulf Freeway South, League City, from 10 am to 2 pm. Drive through the drop-off site where Law Enforcement and pharmacy personnel will take your medicine for proper disposal.
Don’t think your drop-off will make a difference? The last “Take Back” was held in April 2012 and turnout was a great success. During that four hour event, 568 lbs. of medication was collected from 143 cars! That means close to 600 lbs. of medicines were not disposed into a land fill, nor dumped down a drain. You can make a difference in your community by cleaning your medicine cabinet.
