A few years ago when my wife and I thought we would be moving during that year, I decided to start decluttering. I would wander the house from room to room whenever the mood hit me and I would create piles for the Salvation Army, Half Price bookstore, the recycle bin and the trash. It’s amazing how much progress you can make when you aren’t stressed about immediately moving. So this year, especially if you are planning on taking your time for your move (or even if you aren’t moving and you just need room to breathe), start the process early. Check out this article from houselogic which shows you great ideas for decluttering, including how to get rid of hazardous products, where to sell old books, who to donate anything you can think of to, and many other ideas.
