As recently reported by Jed Kolko, the chief economist for Trulia, an online leader in providing residential real estate information to consumers, Houston is the healthiest housing market in the United States. Not far behind in fourth and fifth place are San Antonio and Austin. I mentioned a number of reasons for the Houston appeal In my Welcome to Texas! blog, but as Jed mentions, Houston’s and Texas’s strength comes from strong job growth and low foreclosure inventories. Texas didn’t experience the depths of the recession compared to other states and because of this, the mountain was not near as high to climb as we started making our way back to economic prosperity around the country.
