In August of 2012, I blogged about the status of the Grand Parkway Construction around the perimeter of Houston. In their Wednesday, April 10, 2013 newsletter, Real Estate Biznow provided an update, stating that “By December 2015, the Grand Parkway will extend from 59 to 59 around the west side of town.” They went on to summarize what has been completed at this point (see map below or visit www.grandpky.com ):
Segment D opened in ’94
Segment I-2 opened in ’08
Segment E will open later in 2013
Segments F-1, F-2, and G will launch construction next month—to keep you in perspective, I-45 (and Springwoods Village/Exxon) is between F-2 and G, and 59 (and Valley Ranch) is between G and H.
Segments H and I-1 (on the northeast side of town) will likely launch in 2016 and open in 2019. Fort Bend County is improving D and building C itself; that was approved this year.
After the completion of the above, the remaining segments are A (a 6.5 mile route from I-45 south to 146 in Galveston County through League City) and B (a 28.2 mile stretch from 288 to I-45 south). As of now, these last two routes would open in 2019 or later.
