NerdWallet.com, a blog and website that helps consumers make decisions about personal finances, released a list earlier in May about the best cities in Texas for young families. The criteria to determine the family-friendly cities was: (1) Does the city have a good public school system? (2) Can you afford to live there?, and (3) Is the city growing and prospering?
A total of 52 cities were examined and League City ranked number four. The website shows League City schools earning a 9 out of 10 points on great schools, and shows League City residents’ median income is quite high, while the median home value is low compared to comparable cities. The blog also cites the City’s proximity to the water and family-friendly attractions. You can see the complete list of cities and review their overall scores on the NerdWallet.com website blog.
League City was also ranked as one of the top 10 safest cities in Texas according to a CQ press study. In addition, League City ranked as one of the top 10 smartest cities of its size in Texas (Feb 2013) and 99th among smartest cities in the U.S. by The Business Journals’ own Numbers in 2011.
