For the second year in a row League City is named one of the safest cities in the nation. The Congressional Quarterly (CQ) Press lists League City as the 29th safest city in the nation and the fourth safest city in the State of Texas. The publishing company releases an annual City Crime Rankings reference book, which is a study of more than 430 cities.

Mayor Tim Paulissen is quoted in the city’s official release saying: “I’m extremely proud of the work our police department does to keep our residents, visitors and property safe. These statistics represent our continued commitment to provide world-class public safety.”

The study ranked the cities using 2012 FBI data on murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft. The City Crime Rankings reference book only ranks cities with populations greater than 75,000. This is the second year League City has been included in the study. Last year, League City ranked 68th in the nation and 7th safest in the state.
