In Houston, the Oak Forest Subdivision was established in 1947 by Oak Forest Realty Corporation, owned by Frank Sharp, a developer who would later establish Sharpstown. Almost all of the first houses were sold to World War II veterans who were returning home and starting families...most were sold for $8,000-$10,000. The first house, which served as a sales office, was built at the corner of Golf and Fisher Drive.
Over sixty years later, there are 5,523 homes in Oak Forest with a population of over 23,000. Oak Forest today covers the third largest area within the City of Houston and continues to improve gracefully with age. The area contains original homes, as well as complete renovations and new construction.
It was and is a great place to live, start and raise a family. And there are still great starter and affordable houses. Check out our listings at AskinsOnline and the latest information here to see if Oak Forest makes sense for you.
