Your Home is in Demand

You might not realize it, but there is a drastically low inventory of homes for sale, and that’s causing the housing market to lag a little bit.  In the past, there were many houses on the market, but with the buyer’s market, and the reduced value of many homes, people have been reluctant to try to sell their homes.  Now, there is a high demand for houses, and there are many buyers, but not that many houses to choose from.  This means that your house is high in demand, and this might just be the perfect time to sell your home.

Benefits of selling now

So, you might know that, as a potential seller, you are at an advantage, but do you actually know what a low inventory of homes for sale can do for your bottom line?  With such a low inventory of homes on the market, your house could actually become part of a bidding war, which will increase the amount of money that you can get for your house.

You will also likely wind up selling your house much faster than you had anticipated, and that means less stress, worry and the freedom to buy your new house sooner.

Make it work for you

You can make the low inventory of homes for sale work for you by making sure that your house is one of the “desirables.”  Work on your curb appeal by cleaning up the outside of the house.  Brighten things up cut overgrown bushes and make sure the lawn has been nicely mowed.

Make any repairs that need to be made.  Doorways that are weak, weather beaten, and flaking paint will not sell your house.  However, you can make a few improvements and add some paint and your house will be in the perfect condition for an easy sale.

Don’t neglect the roof, siding, and any electrical or plumbing problems your home might have.  This will save you time and money later in the sale.

Adopt a neutral, décor throughout the house.  Eliminate extra furniture and clutter, so your home shows off its attributes.  When you do have a showing, light a fire in the fireplace, turn on all the lights and make sure that your house is clean and show-ready.  Remove evidence of pets before a showing, as well.  Potential buyers don’t care that you have pets; they just don’t want to see or smell evidence of them.

With the low inventory of homes for sale right now, you might just find that selling your house is fast and easy and that you get more for it than you thought you could.
