As it has been a trend during the last months, the prices of single-family homes in The Woodlands and Houston and the U.S. saw an increase in October, for the ninth consecutive month, according to Standard and Poor's Case-Shiller composite index, reported Bayan Raji for the Houston Biz Journal.
This index showed gains of 0.7 percent in 20 metropolitan areas in the nation. This report also shows an increase of 4.3 percent in contrast with the same time last year in these same cities.
As for Houston, the year-over-year increase was of 10.5 percent, putting the average home price at $228,275 in November, this according to the Houston Association of Realtors, reported Raji. The market also saw the biggest increase in sales for the year, as well as the eighteenth consecutive month with positive sales.
All these stats show that the national housing market is on recovery and could help the nation’s economy during 2013, according to Reuters.
