Master Suite: Make Your Lack-Luster Bedroom Buyer Ready

Master Suite: Make Your Lack-Luster Bedroom Buyer Ready

Certain areas of a property are more important to buyers than others. Most people want to see a spacious kitchen with good storage, an open concept floor plan for entertaining and sometimes an office or work space. But one space that is important to most any buyer is the master suite. A lackluster master can be the make-or-break room in your home.

Clear the Clutter

One important feature of a master suite is whether or not the buyer can envision themselves and their furniture fitting in the space. Even in a large master bedroom this can be difficult if the room is consumed by large furniture and personal items. If you happen to be blessed with a relatively large room consider removing some of your personal photos and clutter from the tops of dressers and chest of drawers.

In a small space this is equally important, but if you have lots of furniture crowding a small room you might also consider removing a large piece or two and getting down to the basics. For instance you might remove one of your dressers or chest of drawers in order to open the space. If the space is still a bit cramped consider rearranging your furnishings to make for a larger feel. Maximize Your Storage

You probably think of moving out time as being more appropriate for cleaning out closets, but doing so before you list can help you to better showcase your room’s storage capabilities. Even in a walk-in closet too many items of clothing can make the space feel much smaller than it actually is.

Try to go through some of your clothing and get rid of items that are too small, outdated, or haven’t seen the light of day in years. You’ll not only clear your personal clutter but make your closet space more appealing to potential buyers. In smaller closets consider installing storage implements such as shelving or drawers. This will make the closet appear to be easier to organize and might make even the most walk-in lusting buyer reconsider your single closet. Fixing these common master bedroom mistakes can make even the most lackluster master more appealing to potential buyers. Remember, the people paying the mortgage after you will be spending a lot of time in this room so it’s important to play to their desires. This may mean some slightly inconvenient changes for you in the time that you’re still occupying the property, but with these tips and others you can expect a quicker sale and move on to your next dream home.
