The Woodlands Dosey Doe Coffee House Music

September 1st, 2011

Dosey Doe

Dosey Doe, the small-but-mighty music venue just north of Houston is growing in popularity among nationally-known artists and bands. Several upcoming performances are highlighted below:

Asleep at the Wheel (Sept. 3): From their beginnings in Paw Paw, West Virginia in 1970, this band has earned enthusiastic praise for keeping the sound of Western Swing alive. Although this cheerful and exuberant group of artists have had numerous personnel changes over the years, their front man, Ray Benson, has kept the group a viable touring and recording entity. With 7 Grammy Awards under their belt, they continue to follow in the deep tradition of Western Swing godfather, Bob Wills.

Jim Lauderdale (Sept. 6): Award-winning singer/songwriter, Jim Lauderdale, joins Real Life Real Music host Kyle Hutton on stage at Dosey Doe on Tuesday, September 6th to take live audience and radio program listeners on an up-close-and-personal journey into the life and songs of hits recorded by artists such as Patty Loveless, George Jones, The Dixie Chicks, Mark Chesnutt, Lee Ann Womack, Vince Gill and George Strait.

Rodney Crowell (Sept. 8): Houston, Texas born Crowell began his career as a songwriter for such acts as Roseanne Cash, the Oak Ridge Boys, Bob Seger and a number of other artists. This passionate and poignant songwriter earned a Grammy in 1989 for his song "After All This Time" and was a 2003 inductee into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The Rippingtons (Sept. 10): This instrumental, contemporary jazz band is still led by original band member Russ Freeman. Their recording career began in 1986 with the recording of "Moonlighting". Since that time, they have added 17 albums to their name, with four being hailed as a #1 Top Contemporary Jazz Album.

Dosey Doe of The Woodlands, Texas is a live music venue crafted from a 160 year old barn from Kentucky. The barn is adorned with artifacts that date back to the late 1800's through the early 1900's. The dining and music venue seats 290 guests, making it an ideal up-close-and-personal setting. The interior of the barn was acoustically engineered to provide the best sound without relying on electronic equipment. Dosey Doe is considered to be one of the best acoustic listening rooms in the United States.
