This information will be released to the media (newspaper, tv, radio) today from HAR, the Houston Association of Realtors. Here is an update of how Houston real estate performed in January 2012.
Houston Real Estate Milestones in January
- Volume of single-family home sales rose for the eighth consecutive month (January sales of single-family homes climbed 9.2 percent versus one year earlier)
- Single-family home rentals rose 15.3 percent year over year;
- Townhouse/condominium rentals increased 15.6 percent since one year ago;
- 5.7 months inventory of single-family homes is the lowest level since December 2009 and compares favorably to the national average of 7.2 months.
Good news for Houston! Compared with last year, more homes are selling and prices are moving up. The number of rentals for homes and townhomes/condos are also significantly moving up.
