While developers have left our school system overburdened by promising schools that never came to pass, they are now planning to further overburden our school system with more apartments. Riverstone lies outside the Sugar Land City limits in the ETJ so city officials could not stop that project. Telfair got the green light although residents have protested to City Council that they were promised schools althogh there was never any commitment by the school district. And now Johnson Development, the developer of Riverstone, is trying to more apartments appoved at the Imperial Redevelopment site. Les Newton, Pres. Planned Community Development, developer of the Town Square has jumped on board saying that Sugar Land needs more apartments throughout our city. We can build apartments, we can build Ball Parks but we can't build schools that are very badly needed...where are our priorities.
