RESTORE SUGAR LAND ZONING; VOTER PETITION TO RESCIND NEW CODE

September 8th, 2015

CITY OF SUGAR LAND REGISTERED VOTERS: STOP 900 PROPOSED APARTMENTS:

On July 21, 2015, The City of Sugar Land City Council Quietly Passed a NEW Development Code. The NEW Code was revised by City Staff and a Group of Hand Selected Developers. The URBAN DISTRICT allowing unlimited apartment units was created. SUGAR LAND VOTERS WILL PETITION TO RESCIND THIS ACTION that threatens our community.

KEEP SUGAR LAND SUBURBAN.

Our Petition has been prepared by one of the top Land Use legal firms in the State. And the very recent City of Houston Referendum Petition court case upheld the rights of the citizens to petition and is now forcing the City of Houston to place a referendum Petition on the ballot for an election. However, The City of Sugar Land has distributed misleading information in order to make citizens think our petition is not valid. The City distributed this information in the form of FAQ's at the public Land Use forum on September 2, 2015. City personnel conveyed to several of our volunteers that the petition was illegal on the basis of the City's MISLEADING information.

Can the referendum process be used to amend zoning regulation?

No. State law prohibits the use of the referendum process to amend zoning regulations.

Our petition does not seek to "amend" zoning regulations. This FAQ is not relevant to our Referendum petition and only attempts to discredit our efforts and confuse the tax paying public. Your tax dollars used to mislead you!
