The Hanover Company plans to build a high-end mixed-use development on the former site for the Sonoma Project in Rice Village. So far the development is being embraced by surrounding neighbors as a fair and reasonable use of land especially considering that it is not deed restricted. This new Hanover project will be about 30% smaller in square feet and generate approximately 50% less traffic than the previously proposed Sonoma project (that was derailed by lack of financing). The Hanover project will be five and six stories tall with 385 high-end apartments over about 14,000 square feet of retail space. There will also be a garage both above and below ground which allows for a pedestrian friendly plaza with water feature, trees and wider sidewalks. This 4.5 acre development will be built between Morningside and Greenbriar from Wroxton to Bolsover and Southampton. Apparently Rice University inspired the architecture and brick exterior of this development that will start construction in July.
