September 1, 2009 marked the end of the Texas Real Estate Construction Commission. This organization was created by builders only a few years ago to provide a list of registered builders in the state, establish a basic standard of home warranties on new homes, and a process for buyers to dispute quality and claims against builders. TRCC will stay in existence until September 1, 2010 to complete business that began prior to September 1, 2009. Regarding warranties, the law will revert to what it was before the creation of TRCC – looking to Implied Warranties and Express Written Warranties. Now, more than ever, it is important to choose a reputable builder!
