As of Jan 1, 2010 Your Lender Matters Even More!

December 28th, 2009

A buyer's choice of lender has always mattered but as of Jan 1, 2010, the lender matter even more. Why? New RESPA reform (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act) is requiring a new GFE (Good Faith Estimate) starting Jan 1, 2010. The purpose is more disclosure and buyer confidence that the lender is not including hidden fees. With this new GFE, a new settlement settlement at closing is required. The title company prepares the settlement statement so you'd better carefully select the title company too. As title fees in Texas are the same, it's now education and preparation that will set title companies apart. Trust your Realtor with their recommendations of lender and title company. We have been working with lenders and title companies every day for years.  We know who is ready for these RESPA changes and it takes a lot of time and training to learn these significant changes. This means that your closing will occur on time, as planned and with no surprises.
