Norhill's new Sales Center has a lot of history. Designed by Houston's famed MacKie & Kamrath Architects in the mid-20th Century, MacKie & Kamrath designs were apart of the movement started by Frank Lloyd Wright. From 1948 to the early 1970s, 4916 Main Street was the home of the Weldon Cafeteria. In 1999, a local real estate developer bought the property and embarked on renovating this historic building. Ray + Hollington Architects leased the old cafeteria space, and resurrected much of the interior features from MacKie & Kamrath's original design. In 2003, Ray + Hollington won the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance's good brick award for their efforts.
