Join Friendswood residents past and present for a reception with cake and punch at City Hall on November 1st at 5:30PM to celebrate 50 years of incorporation. Friendswood became a city in 1960. The first mayor, city council, and a law officer were elected, which helped prepare for the tremendous growth that came in the decade of the 1960's as hundreds of NASA employees chose Friendswood as their home. The city now boasts a population of approximately 38,000, and has been named twice as one of the best places to live in the United States.
