Stay Legal After Your Move in Texas

August 17th, 2009

Did you know you must get or update a Texas driver's license within 30 days of your move? You must also carry liabililty insurance for your vehicle when you drive in Texas. Last, every vehicle must have a registration sticker and Texas license plates, along with an inspection sticker and emissions test.

Many people forget to update their vehicle registration information with the Texas Department of Transportation after a move. You can renew or change your address online at www.texasonline.com or get more details about titles and registration at www.txdot.gov.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) issues driver's licenses and the pictures always look terrible. www.txdps.state.tx.us.

You may wish to get a TxTag for easy access on toll roads across the state. www.txtag.org.

Don't forget to buckle up and leave your open containers at home! Also keep in mind that some school zones are cel-phone free. Drive friendly!
