The 2010 Friendswood High School Distinguished Alumni have been selected by the FHS Alumni Committee.  This year, the selection committee has chosen to honor five FHS graduates and one honorary alumna. 
           The Distinguished FHS alumni include artist Tanna Bennett in the Class of 1980;  EMS Chief for the City of Friendswood Lisa Camp in the Class of 1979; movie and television writer and producer Chris Henchy in the Class of 1982 (yeah, Chris!!!); carpenter, small business owner and outstanding volunteer Kim Reed in the Class of 1975; and pianist and piano teacher Carol Cline Vaughn in the Class of 1945.
           Friendswood historian and author Joycina Baker is this year’s honorary alumna.
           The selection standards used by the Committee include leadership, accomplishment and making a difference to better a chosen profession, community or society as a whole.
           The 2010-2011 Distinguished Alumni will be honored at a reception on the evening of  February 11, 2011 in the new library at FHS. The next evening, February 12, the six will be recognized during the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation gala, Havana Blues,  at the Hotel ZaZa in Houston.  This event will be a formal, black-tie optional banquet and dance, sponsored by the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation.
           The Alumni Selection committee made up of former Distinguished Alumni as well as Friendswood ISD Education Foundation directors who are alumni wishes to thank all who nominated a former FHS graduate for the Distinguished Alumni honor. All nominees if not selected stay current on file for three years.
           The first Distinguished Alumni were selected in 2007-2008. The first selected were Linn Eignus in the Class of 1941; Anita Griffon in the Class of 1978; Larry Speck in the Class of 1967; Larry Taylor in the Class of 1978 and Honorary Alumna Myrlene Kennedy.
           The Distinguished Alumni for the 2008-2009 year include Kent Ballard in the Class of 1971; Floyd Brown in the Class of 1944; Beryl Cline in the Class of 1948, Jim Hill in the Class of 1961; Randy Speck in the Class of 1964; and Dr. David Hearn, Honorary Alumnus.
           For 2009-2010, the six selected included Patrick Buzzard in the Class of 1988; Mark Griffon in the Class of 1978; Glenda McDonald in the Class of 1973; Chris Norton in the Class of 1964; Dannielle Thomas in the Class of 1981; and Honorary Alumnus given posthumously to Dr. Richard Conway.
