A new Teen Court has been created under the Municipal Court for the City of Friendswood. Teen court allows young offenders to have their cases presented to a jury of their peers. It also offers exciting volunteer opportunities for teens as well as adults. The first teen training session was held at the Friendswood Public Library April 16 and approximately 20 teens, adults and young college age adults participated in the training. Due to the busy spring season, many who wanted to volunteer could not attend; therefore, and additional training has been set for Monday, May 9 at the Friendswood Public Library (near the old junior high) and will run from 7:30-9 pm. It's not too late to get involved. Fill out the application (see links for more info) and contact the coordinator at: teencourt@friendswood.com or call 832-309-7284. The first session of actual Teen Court is scheduled to occur at Municipal Court for the City of Friendswood on Tuesday, May 24, 2011.
