Flood insurance discounts of up to 25% are now available in Friendswood, so ask your agent! The city of Friendswood has applied for the CRS (Community Rating System) classification from FEMA in an attempt to obtain flood insurance credits for its residents, and to reduce flood losses. Friendswood is one of the top three percent of the nation's flood-prone communities with regard to its implementation of floodplain management and public information activities that exceed the minimum requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program. There are 20,000 communities in the National Flood Insurance Program, and 1,049 communities participate in the Community Rating System. Friendswood is ranked as a Class 5 CRS community, one of only two in the state. There are only four communities nationwide with a ranking better than 5.
Friendswood is a beautiful place to live, with its trees and winding creeks, excellent schools, strong property values, and small-town charm. Now flood insurance is even more affordable.
For more information on the CRS program, call the Friendswood Community Development Office at 281.996.3291. It takes 30 days before a flood insurance policy goes into effect, so get yours now.
