Tropical Storm Alex is currently in the Gulf of Mexico and is projected to make landfall between late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning in deep south Texas or Northern Mexico. Alex is projected to be a strong Category 1 or low Category 2 Hurricane at landfall.
The impact on Southeast Texas is projected to include high tides, with peak tides at 3.3 feet to 4.5 feet above normal Wednesday through Thursday. The total local rainfall impact from Alex is projected to be 3 to 6 inches along our coast and 2 to 4 inches inland.
A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect for our area through Thursday, with a Costal Flood Warning possible should the track of the storm change.
The Friendswood Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates when appropriate.
