How to correctly fill out the Licensed Supervisor of Associate field on revised TREC forms
The April issue of Texas REALTOR® magazine addressed how licensees should fill out the Licensed Supervisor of Associate field within the Broker Information box on revised TREC forms. The Texas Real Estate Commission has changed those instructions. Here's how TREC instructs licensees to fill out that field.
You're a salesperson
Fill in your sponsoring broker's name unless your sponsoring broker has designated someone to supervise your day-to-day activity. If your sponsoring broker has designated someone to supervise you, such as a team leader or branch manager, fill in that designated supervisor's name. If your sponsoring broker is the firm itself and there is no other designated supervisor, fill in the name of the designated broker for the firm. Generally speaking, the supervisor must be a licensee and the designation as a supervisor must be made in writing and maintained in the firm's files.
You're a broker-associate
Fill in the designated broker for the licensed firm unless you have a written agreement with the firm that another licensee has supervisory authority over you. In that case, fill in that licensed supervisor's name. If you're a broker-associate of a firm but solicit and take listings or enter into buyer's representation agreements under your own name—and not the firm's—then fill in your name.
You’re a solo broker
Fill in your name.
