It was in 2005 (yes just before hurricane Rita) our family trekked from Southern California to Houston. We had no idea what to expect, as much of what we had heard about Texas was "stereotypes" that friends teased and giggled about. Our preliminary visit had dispelled much of these images of Texas already and so we drove, and drove, and drove with our extremely packed minivan and three children.
Now 7 years and two hurricane evacuations laters, Houston is home. Yes we still hate the humidity and mourn the fact we didn't enjoy the nice weather of San Diego enough when we lived there, but I think all in all the family would say it was a good move.
Apparently we weren't the only ones who made and continue to make th trek to Houston. According to this article, Houston is the No. 3 moving destination in the country. Maybe we were trendsetters!

If you know of someone who is new and moving into the area, please have them give me a call (713)817-5710. I bring a unique perspective of a native Californian now in Texas - and understand the impact of a long distance move.
