When looking at homes in Houston, especially during summer months, buyers will often look at a fireplace and say "like we need that in Houston!"  It is only February and our fireplace has already gotten a lot of use.  It may not be the most efficient way to warm up a  room but it certianly makes me "feel" warmer just looking at it.  There is nothing that says cozy cold evening in than a nice fire.
