Houston single family home sales in September increased 32% over sales in September 2008, according to statistics released overnight by Houston Association of REALTORS®. This is the first increase in same month comparison of sales since August 2007. The significance of this increase should not be underestimated. While some will denigrate the increase due to the occurrence of Hurricane Ike in September last year, single family home sales in the third quarter of 2009 outperformed the same period of 2008 by 1.5%. HAR released only the "top line" statistics last night. Check back for more detailed analysis when Pending Sales, Active Listings and other data are released.
