Number of Stories: Do you like a single story, more than one story, or even a split level?
Interior specifications: How many bedrooms and bathrooms do you want? How big do you want the square footage to be? Do you want any bonus rooms (game room, workout room, study, etc.)
Garage: Do you want one attached or detached?
Additional considerations: Which school district will you live in? Are the any special amenities included with the house (such as a pool)? In what condition is the home? Is it a septic or sewage system?
